Books Upstairs

An independent, family run business with a bright blue façade Books Upstairs is difficult to miss when walking down D'Olier Street. Despite its name the books are in fact not upstairs but on the ground floor and in the basement, with the exception of the second-hand section which is upstairs alongside their café.

The café is device-free to encourage face-to-face conversation and book reading while offering tea and coffee alongside a small selection of bakes and a couple of toasties - this is a bookshop with a café, not a café with a bookshop! Hosting a wide selection of genres covering history, LQBTQ+ and children's literature alongside literary and political journals Books Upstairs likely has something for everyone and frequently hosts book launches, readings and other events in their café.

Spanning three floors in a preserved Georgian building there is limited accessibility but the entrance and ground floor are wheelchair accessible.
