1, 2, 3, Shit. That's My OCD
Sharing true anonymous stories and engaging with sexual violence through performance.

Written by Bibi Couceiro utilising real peoples stories provided by AM.UART, 1, 2, 3. Shit. That’s My OCD. is a tragicomedy performed by a solo artist in an intimate performance space with quite a bit of casual audience interaction.
Set simply with a single orange chair on stage and a sparkling disco ball suspended above, the performance opens with a pre-recording welcoming the audience to an OCD Anonymous meeting and asks if anyone wants to start. Cue Bibi making her way to the stage.
Tackling some serious subject matter 1, 2, 3. Shit. That’s My OCD. does include content warnings on its listing, in its program, and in the opening of the show – shows based on the stories of sexual assault survivors and their PTSD are not for everyone. The close quarters of the space and small audience size can make for an at times uncomfortable atmosphere but Couceiro knows how to gauge her audience and is able to pull them back when it starts to become too much.
As is to be expected with a tragicomedy the first 25-30 minutes definitely got more laughs than the last as Bibi delves into how trauma often exacerbates pre-existing issues such as OCD, and how living with the condition can jump from manageable to debilitating pretty quickly.
Unfortunately the team had some tech issues with the odd pre-emptive sound cue and microphone feedback – though once the tech decided to cut off the mic entirely everything went a lot smoother and frankly in such an intimate staging as this a microphone seemed unnecessary and simply served to over-complicate what was otherwise a fairly straightforward tech set-up.
An interesting show that has potential but certainly not for everyone (one person did walk out fairly early on at the show I attended) due to the potentially triggering subject matter and some partial nudity at the end.
